I am a pilgrim, journeying to a beautiful land
I am walking steadily with a purpose in mind
There are also several people on this journey with me
Several thoughts clog my heart
Ranging from what shall I eat,
To with what shall I be clothed,
To what shall become of me tomorrow;
and many more
In the midst of these disturbing thoughts,
There is a still small voice that says
“The life of a man consisteth not in the abundance of that which He possesseth,
So worry not over what you shall eat, drink or wear”
In the same vein, I am faced with several situations
Some bad, some good, some disheartening, and some fearful
All these situations fight/clamor for my attention
Thus, the need to make a choice
Should I focus on these situations?
Should I focus on something else apart from them?
My choice determines what becomes of me thereafter
What shall I choose? I thought within myself
Suddenly I heard a voice in my spirit
“Why not focus your attention on your Creator?
He’s the one who sent you on this journey”
Immediately, I remembered what is written in the Great Book,
Wherein I’m told to fix my gaze on my Creator;
Looking unto my Savior who qualified me for the journey,
For He knows the beginning and the end of my journey
Hooray! I have made my choice;
I choose to be unmoved by my situations
I will look unto my God and Creator
For all my days are written in His book.
He’s able to bring me to a safe landing for He loves me so much.
On this assurance will I continue my pilgrimage and fulfil my God-given assignment.
NB: As we keep our gaze on The Lord,
We are enabled to do the impossible
It is however needful to note that
Keeping our gaze on Jesus doesn’t necessarily mean there would be no storms
Rather it means that we would not be deterred by the storms, for our eyes have been shut off from them
Thus, we must not be tempted to divert our attention away from the Lord
Lest we be overtaken by fear at the sight of the storm
Our gaze must continually be on the Lord
The more we look to Him, the more Faith is built in us to do that which erstwhile seemed impossible.
Keep looking to Jesus, don’t stop gazing at Him until you look just like Him.
