BROKEN CISTERNS

BROKEN CISTERNS

Man, o man, the ingenious creation of Yahweh
From dust came ye, and to dust shall ye return
Ye were formed for a purpose by thine Maker.
He created you specially and made you specifically different from His other creations.

Why then doth thou forsake Him, who is the fountain of living waters?
Such that thou now hewest for thyself cisterns
Broken cisterns for that matter, that can hold no water
This is an evil act before thy Maker

Do you care to journey through history lane to better understand the matter at hand?
Adam was created in the image of God and after His likeness
Upon His creation, He was giving a mandate
And further instructions were communicated to him

However, he failed to obey one of the instructions given to him.
As soon as this happened, his eyes became opened
As well as that of his wife, and they became ashamed
Then they dug for themselves a cistern, by covering themselves with fig leaves

One would wonder, how fig leaves can effectively cover ones nakedness.
But that was all they could do since they had resorted to helping themselves.
Like a broken cistern, their efforts proved futile
And the shame they intended covering was still made plain before their Creator.

Run back to your Master, run back to the Fountain of Life
For your wisdom is sheer foolishness before your Creator
Drink from His well that can never run dry, so that you can run very far
Let Him build and mold you till you become like Him.

Don’t help Him to make your life beautiful, instead, submit to Him
And He will make out of you Beauty and Glory
After all, He is the potter and you are the clay
Can a clay struggle with the potter? It will be marred if it dares it
Hence, stay with the Fountain of Life.

Summarily, we sometimes go about working things out our own way, leaving God behind. This could perhaps be because we want a very quick intervention. However, we need to realize that we are limited in our abilities. Hence, it is best we rely and wait patiently for the limitless God who has all things under His control (Jer. 2:13)
No amount of the patches you seek to add will perfectly close the gap in the torn cloth of your life. However, a single intervention from God will turn things around and can give you an entirely new cloth.
