Who will I marry, and how do I get it right?
The very big question in my heart
I searched for answers here and there
So much so that I became more confused
Some said I could just hook up with the next available person
Some said, I have to wait on God to get the right person
Some said, if you like a person and you feel peace in your heart, then it’s alright
And others said, just start the friendship and see where it leads
As I pondered on the different suggestions, my confusion deepened
In my confused state, I decided to seek the Lord
He smiled at me and said “Child, I know what’s best for you and would surely work it out in due time”
“Lord, time is running out, I have to be hooked up and I don’t want to go against you” came my reply
“Well, if you don’t want to go against me, let me handle this for you”, said He, in return
But you have given me a mind of my own to choose, can’t I just hook up?” I said
‘Twas at this point, He took me on a journey
A journey that speaks of His expertise in this matter
I saw a father who wanted the best for his son instructing his servant to go to the midst of his kindred and bring a wife for his son. He understood how that God’s guidance is key, so, he said to his servant that God shall send His angel before Him. As the servant went about carrying out this great assignment, he came to realize how that such a task could not be effectively carried out relying on human sense, so, he further prayed. In the end, God, took charge of everything beyond every reasonable doubt. And the wife was eventually brought home to meet the son of the Father.

At this point, I surrendered and resolved I was going to allow Him handle it
Lo and behold, I was busy working when my perfect match came
I didn’t understand why the Lord made it so, but as time went by,
I could affirm confidently that “GOD IS INDEED THE PERFECT MATCHMAKER”
Dearly Beloved, why get yourself unnecessarily worked up on the issue of making a choice of marital partner? Why not rather engage your Heavenly Father, the giver of all good and perfect gifts? While you may be enthused by that which you can see today, do not make your decision based on that. Rather allow He that knows the end of a thing from its beginning to guide you in making the right choice.
PS: The story cited can be found in Gen. 24.
In God is the perfect matchmaker…. We humans are always in a hurry blinded by what our eyes see, we fail to trust He who sees what we don’t.
I pray God helps us to trust His decisions for us in every aspect of life, most especially in the marital aspect…
Thank you for this great piece. More grace
