His name was Lot, a nephew to Abraham. Not much was said of his upbringing or his prime years until he joined camp with his uncle, Abraham, following his uncle to the land that God had promised him.
He lost his father at a tender age, so it is safe to assume that he grew under the watch of his uncle. Little wonder, he was quick to accompany his uncle in his adventurous expedition with God.
In no time, Lot became great and his greatness was almost tearing the family apart as his herdsmen were seen to be in constant battle with Abraham’s herdsmen.
As man of peace, Abraham though older gave his nephew Lot the right of first refusal by giving him the liberty to choose where he would like to pitch his tent and Lot, moved by his sight, chose to settle near Sodom.
His decision must have been because of the lush greenery he saw afar off which seemed appealing to his eyes. Unknown to Lot, this land of comfort and pleasure he settled for was only a few miles away from Sodom.
For years, Lot seemed to live just fine but as it is with compromises, it usually comes with a cascading effect. Few years down the line, God was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because of their evil deeds and guess what, by this time, Lot had finally settled in Sodom.
It took the intercession of Abraham and the mercy of God for Lot and his family not to be consumed in the judgement of God against Sodom.
What is that compromise you have started making regarding your faith? Is it in the area of your consecration around your dressing? Have you started rationalizing why it is not bad to dress in some ways you once considered despicable and unholy?

Or have you started excusing yourself for the changes you are beginning to notice around your speech and conducts? Or is it that you have started to relax on some of the spiritual exercises that used to be your lifestyle?
Or have you started to pattern your life and the fulfilment of God’s purpose for you according to the trends in our world today in defiance of God’s counsel to you?

Making compromises might seem like the right thing to do while expecting that God will understand the reason for the “little shifts” we have had to make. However, we must understand that our God changeth not, so He will not adjust His standards to suit any man, and as the Holy Bible says, a little leaven leavens the whole lump.

Hear the conclusion of the whole matter, go back to the drawing board and revisit all the instructions you received from the Master, Christ Jesus, to see if you have carried them out as He commanded. Bear in mind that it is only when you carry out God’s instructions to you as He wills that you can be said to have truly obeyed and it is such obedience that will be rewarded and honoured.
Make amends where necessary. God bless you as you do this!
Shalom!!!
