She was known as a whore and with her enticing speech she caused many men to yield and her flattering lips were instruments of seduction.
Her lips dripped honey, and her mouth was smoother than oil, but the end thereof was as bitter as wormwood and sharp as a two-edged sword.
Her feet would not stay at home. At times, she was outside, at times in the open square, lurking at every corner, seeking a man to catch.
Her house is the way to hell, descending to the chambers of death. None who go to her return, nor do they regain the paths of life.
Many men have gone after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks. She has stripped them of their honor and has brought their labours to the house of a foreigner
She has cast down many wounded, and all who were slain by her were strong men.
Her life was all a mess until a faithful day when she entertained two young men in her house. These young men who came on an assignment stayed true to their mission and refused to be ravished by her beauty.
Her chance encounter with these two young men altered the trajectory of her life, setting it on a completely new course.
She chose to believe the report of the Lord and saw the Lord’s hand in the visitation of these two young men. This act of faith not only saved her and her household from the looming destruction, but it gave her a brand new start, which earned her a place in the genealogy of Christ.
That was not all. She was gracious enough to extend a hand of love to her father’s household, offering as many who chose to believe her report an opportunity to escape the looming destruction.
Who would have thought that Rahab the prostitute and her family were the only people who would be saved from the destruction that was to befall the city of Jericho? Or that she would end up being listed in the genealogy of the Messiah?
Friends, this story is an indication of the transformation that can happen to a (wo)man who believes in the Lord’s report and chooses to put his/her trust in the Lord. Are you reading this story, and you think your life has been nothing but a mess? This story assures you that if you would surrender all to the Lord Jesus and believe in His sacrifice for you on the Cross, He would give you a new beginning.

In the same vein, it is a lesson to all who are on an assignment for the Lord to continually shine the light and not allow the darkness in the world shut out their light, but invade the darkness with their light.
Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father, which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16
